I had the incredible honor of performing at the “Steirische Galanacht des Sports 2024,” a prestigious event celebrating the achievements of some of Austria’s most remarkable athletes. The energy in the room was inspiring, surrounded by legends, rising stars, and influential personalities from sports, politics, and business.

A Night of Honoring Excellence in Sport

This year’s Galanacht was marked by several memorable moments. Among the highlights was the honor given to skier Conny Hütter as “Sportlerin des Jahres.” Although Conny was unable to attend, her award was presented via video by ASVÖ President Christian Purrer. Tennis star Sebastian Ofner, also absent due to recovery from surgery, was named “Sportler des Jahres” for his exceptional achievements.

Young talents Johanna Janser and Moritz Renner received the “Nachwuchssportlerdes Jahres” award from Olympic champion Valentin Bontus, who came to Graz especially for this honor.

The recognition of Special Olympics athlete Patrik Wöls as “Special Olympics Sportler des Jahres” was another highlight. The 32-year-old from Upper Styria, who competes for WSC Aflenz, won two gold medals in the Giant Slalom and Super-G in Schladming.

The ASVÖ showcase club SK Sturm celebrated as they were awarded “Team of the Year” for their Meister and Cup victories, while Christian Ilzer was named “Coach of the Year.”

One of the evening’s most touching moments was the lifetime achievement award given to para-equestrian Pepo Puch, whose inspiring career has impacted so many. His heartfelt speech emphasized the belief that “everything that is imaginable is also achievable,” receiving a standing ovation.

Celebrating the Power of Sports

The Steirische Galanacht des Sports 2024 not only honored these extraordinary athletes but also served as a reminder of how sports connect and inspire us all. It was a privilege to perform for such a distinguished audience, and I look forward to seeing how these athletes continue to reach new heights in the years to come.
